Eric Ziel, Principal, Eighth Grade
The 2017-18 school year will be my 35th in the teaching ministry, all of which have been here at St. Matthew's Lutheran School in Oconomowoc. Currently, my service to the Lord involves duties as our school's principal and eighth grade teacher. In addition, I coach our school's cross country team in the fall and girls' softball in the spring. A loving family, strong faculty, and supportive congregation are blessings that continue to make my service at St. Matthew's a joy.
My wife Beth serves as our school's Kindergarten teacher. Our oldest daugther, Megan, graduated from Martin Luther College in May of 2011 and after spending two years in China in the Friends of China program, served for two years as a tutor at Luther Prep School in Watertown. She was married to Steve Gurgel on July 3, 2015, and they now make their home in Rapid City, SD. Jacob is in his third year serving as a tutor at Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School in Waco, NE. He teaches Phy. Ed. and Earth Science, coaches basketball and football, and has dorm supervisor duties. Anna, our youngest, is also preparing to serve as a teacher some day. She attends Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.
