Personal Information

I am the fifth grade teacher here at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and also help out in the areas of music, forensics, and upper grade reading. My greatest blessings are my family and my teaching ministry.

I have not moved far from home, since I lived and attended church and school at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Ixonia during my childhood. I attended Luther Prep School in Watertown and went on to Dr. Martin Luther College, now know as Martin Luther College, in New Ulm, MN. I received a call to teach upper grades here at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School when I graduated in 1974.

My husband, Stuart, is a semi-retired construction worker, working for C G Schmidt out of Milwaukee and other construction businesses as opportunities arise. We have been blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. Stephanie is married to Pastor David Olson who serves at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Madison, Tennessee. We always look forward to the time that we can spend with them and their children Haley, Joey and twins, Will and Alli. Stacy and Noah Eckl live much closer to us, in Ixonia. Noah is an athletic trainer at Watertown Regional Medical Center and spends many hours at Luther Prep School, keeping the athletes fit to play. When Stacy is not caring for their children, Sophia, Madelyn, and Charlie, she works at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Rachel and her husband, Christopher Scannell, live in Milwaukee. She is a speech and language pathologist, working in Milwaukee Public Schools.

Professional Information

Although I have served at only one congregation, I have taught at every level from preschool to eighth grade during my 35+ years of teaching. I hold a Wisconsin State teaching license and strive to grow professionally through continuing education and the reading of professional publications. I have welcomed student teachers from Martin Luther College into my classroom for many years.

I cannot imagine what my life would be like without my teaching. I thank God daily for giving me the opportunity to share His Word with so many young people. It is my prayer that they will always remember God’s great love and the gift of salvation that He has given to all of us!
