Katie Schlomer, Third Grade

Email Mrs. Schlomer

My name is Katie Schlomer. I was born in Davenport, Iowa and raised in West Allis, WI, where my dad, Rev. Ralph Scharf served as pastor at Good Shepherd’s Lutheran Church. I am the second of 14 children.

I attended Good Shepherd’s School for my elementary years and then headed to Northwestern Prepraratory School in Watertown, WI. with the hopes of becoming a teacher some day. While attending NPS, I met my future husband. I attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.

I joined my husband, Larry Schlomer, during his Seminary Vicar year in Puerto Rico. We were a part of the congregation in Guayama during our year there.

My husband was assigned, after graduation, to Santiago, Dominican Republic. We lived overseas for the next nine years. It was a joy to be a part of the mission work on the Island.

In 2004, my husband accepted a call to Christ The Lord Lutheran Church in Houston, TX. We spent the next nine years in Texas. I had the privilege to teach in our elementary school for our last two years in Texas. In 2013, my husband was called to serve as our synod’s Administrator for World Missions. St. Matthew’s called me to teach Third grade at that same time.

We have six children: Jacob and Jonah attending Martin Luther College, Luke and Isaiah both attending Luther Prep School, and Abraham and Dakota attending St. Matthew’s.

God has blessed me with so many opportunities to share his word in very different settings. For many years it was as a stay at home mom, and Missionary/Pastor’s wife. Now that my kids are older, I’m thrilled to be in the classroom teaching and preparing children for future lives of service for God.
