Overview - Before School Care

The before school care program provides morning care and supervision for students who are attending St. Matthew’s Lutheran School. The goal of the program is to provide a Christ-centered, safe environment for children who arrive before the school doors open at 7:20. This program is operated as an extension of the school. Therefore all rules and regulations established by the school apply to this program as well.

Before School Care begins at 6:45 each morning and runs until 7:20. Students who are dropped off within this time frame must go immediately to the Before School Care room upon arrival at school.  At 7:20, the school doors officially open for the day, and all students in the Before School Care program will be excused to their regular classrooms. There is a $1 per day charge for using the Before School Care program.  Parents receive a monthly statement of charges.

Overview - After School Care

The after school care program provides care, supervision, and activities for students who are attending St. Matthew’s Lutheran School. The goal of the program is to provide a Christ-centered, safe environment for children needing supervision after school hours. This program is operated as an extension of the school. Therefore all rules and regulations established by the school apply to this program.

The after school care program may be located in two different classrooms, and the students will be divided by age. Different classrooms of the school will be used for After School Care based on a rotating monthly schedule.  Activities will also take place in the gym, on the playground, and in the Fellowship Center.

A variety of activities, snack time, and homework study periods make up the daily schedule. The program will provide individual attention, security, consistency, and fair treatment for all.

Our After School Care program also offers fun, educational, weekly themes for students in 3K through 3rd grade.  To ensure that homework needs are met, parents or teachers of students may choose to have the student do homework instead of the weekly theme activities.

Rate for Care/Hours of Program

For our 3K and 4K students, after school care is available from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each school day.

Every school day at 2:50, all K-8 students who have not been picked up will be taken to the after school care room. At 3:00, all remaining students will be signed in and the following rate will apply: $2.00 per half hour, or any fraction of a half hour. You will receive a monthly statement of charges.

The program will operate from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day that school is open. All students are to be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. Parents who use the program need to complete an Authorized Pick Up Form, listing all potential people who might pick up their children. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be assessed for each minute after 6:00.
